BASED IN LONDON’S FAMOUS BOROUGH MARKET, FOOD WITH THOUGHT EVENT SHOWCASES CONTEMPORARY INTERIOR PRODUCTS FROM A COLLECTIVE OF SIX DESIGN COMPANIES
The products on display include textiles, rugs, furniture and lighting. Many of them are made from recycled or sustainable materials and are specifically themed in relation to the market. In addition, each designer has designed a unique canvas shopper, for sale at the event or in advance via the website, with a percentage of the proceeds going towards the Borough Market Charity.
With most of the products hanging from the huge rafters within the Market it promises to be a spectacular and eye-catching event. The idea for the event was conceived by friends, Lorraine Statham, founder of loophouse, and June Swindell, founder of salt. Both designers are local to the area, and wanted to put the creative hub of SE1 on the design trail during the London Design Festival, as well as reach out to a new audience. With Tate Modern and the Oxo Tower to the West and the Design Museum to the East it made perfect sense to host the event at Borough Market.
Lorraine and June’s enthusiasm has won over designers including Timorous Beasties, Kay + Stemmer, Tom Kirk Lighting and Tracy Kendall, who have created items for the event.
